Welcome friend!

Are you getting a bit tired of walking around town only to hear "Sittin' on the dock of the bay", "Brown eyed girl", "Southern Cross", "Pirate looks at forty", etc. …   Yes, they are all great songs, but they're just part of the familiar audio wallpaper that exists for the purpose of selling beer.

Do you spend time learning songs and music, but feel like there's no one else in Key West who shares your musical interests?  Here at Folk Key West you'll find a community of musicians and listeners who enjoy all kinds of traditional music.  We believe that music can be played for the joy of it, not just for the purpose of attracting tourists to bars.

On any given evening in Key West there are dozens of venues to go hear live music at.  What's lacking in Key West are the opportunities and locations for friends to get together and share music.

Our goal is to provide opportunities for local music lovers to listen to and play traditional music with others.  Our interests include many musical traditions such as Irish, roots Americana, old fiddle tunes and bluegrass.  All levels of musicians are most welcome and are encouraged to participate in any of our events.

Folk Key West was formed in August of 2021 and has gathered a community of traditional music lovers.  Our first event was attended by over a dozen musicians and we continue to grow with each weekly meeting.  We usually meet on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 at Williams Hall in Old Town.  Check our calendar for upcoming folk music lessons and sessions.

If you are interested in finding out more, please add your contact information to our contact form.  You can help us grow by spreading the word to musicians and listeners who you think would be interested.

Best regards and keep making home-made music!
